Roberto Fantinel conducts Don Giovanni at 2025 Da Ponte Opera Festival

In the heart of Vittorio Veneto, the birthplace of Lorenzo Da Ponte, the curtain has risen on the second edition of the Da Ponte Opera Festival, an international event dedicated to the renowned Mozart librettist. At the center of this edition is a new and refined production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, under the musical direction of Maestro Roberto Fantinel.

The Myth of Don Giovanni: Between Seduction and Fate

Don Giovanni, a daring nobleman and unrepentant seducer, spends his final day on earth.

In a feverish succession of deceptions, seductions, and power games, he moves through the shadows of his victims and the cynicism of his loyal servant Leporello, until he comes face to face with his own destiny.

The question that runs through the entire story—can a man like Don Giovanni find redemption?—makes this opera not only a pinnacle of Mozartian musical theater but also a drama of surprising modernity, capable of speaking to the heart and conscience of today’s audience.

An International Team for an Ambitious Project

Alongside Roberto Fantinel is a world-class artistic team. Direction is entrusted to Cecilia Stinton, a young British director already active at the English National Opera and the Royal Ballet & Opera in London. Vocal preparation is overseen by Alessandra Fasolo, a language coach for major European theaters, together with Roberta Canzian and Maurizio Muraro, renowned voices on the international opera scene.
The cast features leading artists from the international opera stage, including:
Tim Bagley – Don Giovanni
Monica McGhee – Donna Anna
Egor Zhuravskii – Don Ottavio
Mariana Poltorak – Donna Elvira
Nicolò Donini – Leporello
Ellie Neate – Zerlina
Conall O’Neill – Masetto
Luca Sozio – Il Commendatore

An Opera, an International Educational Journey

Don Giovanni is at the center of a comprehensive educational and artistic program involving more than twenty opera singers from around the world, participating in masterclasses and advanced training activities.

The festival’s mission includes creating real opportunities for the next generation, through a production model that combines artistic excellence with a strong educational vision.

Tradition and Innovation Under the Same Baton

Roberto Fantinel’s participation in the Festival underscores his commitment to accessible, inclusive music that connects young people with the heritage of opera. The Don Giovanni staged in Vittorio Veneto is more than a performance: it is a tribute to the great Da Ponte tradition and a window onto the future of opera.
