The "Io Suono in Orchestra" Project wins the 2025 Abbado Award
A Major National Recognition for the San Fior school and Maestro Roberto Fantinel
The San Fior and Godega di Sant’Urbano Comprehensive Institute has been declared the overall winner of the 2025 Abbado Award in Category 1D – projects implemented through vertical curriculum integration – thanks to the Io Suono In Orchestra project, promoted and directed by Maestro Roberto Fantinel. This achievement brings the name of San Fior to the national stage and celebrates music as a tool for education and social cohesion.
An Official Award from the Ministry of Education and Merit
The award was presented within the framework of the national competition “Premio Abbado – Far Musica Insieme”, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Education and Merit, together with the Abbiati Prize for Schools (awarded by the National Association of Music Critics) and the Luigi Berlinguer – Trinity College London Prize.
The results of the competition were formalized with Departmental Decree No. 1169 of May 19, 2025, following a careful selection process by the examining commission, which concluded its work on June 7, 2025. Projects submitted by schools across Italy were evaluated. Launched in January 2025, the initiative involved numerous schools of all levels, promoting musical practice as a fundamental part of the educational path.
The Award Ceremony at the Roman Theatre of Fiesole
The official ceremony took place on June 21, 2025, in the evocative setting of the Roman Theatre of Fiesole, during the 78th Fiesole Summer Festival. The awards were presented by Mayor Cristina Scaletti, Annalisa Spadolini (National Coordinator of the Ministry and Chair of the Commission), music critic Angelo Foletto, and Gisella Belgeri, Director of Radio Cemat.
